The January 9th meeting will feature “Moving & Shaking” in the New Year! Kathleen Boyle will take us through line dance steps to get us moving, and the Bingo numbers will be shaking — with winners getting a prize!

Our November event is not a lunch but a dinner dance. Whispers is celebrating our 60th anniversary and will commemorate the event by hosting a Diamond Dinner Dance.

The dinner will be an event to celebrate the past participants of Whispers and the legacy that they left, the same mission and goals for Whispers today.

This meeting we have invited Germaine Elkins from Sandhills Community College (SCC) to be our speaker.  She is Vice President of Engagement and the Executive Director of the SCC Foundation. She will be speaking about the many different types of programs that are available for local residents. 

Join us for our first lunch of the fall. As is our kick-off tradition, the September lunch includes a fashion show, featuring local models showcasing in-style women’s wear. This year, we welcome Norma from Lookin’ for Linda, located on US-1 near Vass.

On May 9, 2024, we will celebrate creativity and artistic expression.

Join us for lunch on Thursday, April 11, at 11:30 am, and hear our distinguished speaker, Jamie Boles, who represented Moore County in the NC state legislature from 2009-2023. Mr Boles will speak about civic duty and share his thoughts about volunteerism and the responsibilities we have as citizens to have our communities and our country stronger. Come prepared with your questions.

Our next lunch is February 8, with Village Manager Rich Lambdin as our speaker. The topic is Village services, amenities, points of contact, and resources available to residents.

For the January 11, 2024, meeting, Whispers will hear from Natalie Hawkins, President of Moore County Economic Development Partnership.

During our December 14 luncheon, we’ll be treated to 2 accomplished pianists—Sue Aceves and Carol Tilton—who will delight us with a program of Christmas piano duets, from classic traditional pieces to fun modern ones.

During our November 9 luncheon, we’ll hear from both Tambra’s Place and Friend To Friend—two local organizations that Whispers donates to.

For our October 12 lunch, we are featuring Ron Maness, Director of Moore County Airport.
