Whispers conducts its monthly meetings at the Community Building on Rays Bridge Road.
We have only two meetings remaining until the summer break. We hope you will join us for the April Luncheon and also, we are seeking Nominations for the Martha Hardee Award. Named after Martha Hardee, the founder of Whispers, the award honors an outstanding woman living in the Village who demonstrates a genuine care for others and who gives of her time and talent to help improve the lives of people in our community and the surrounding area. The Award will be presented on May 14th at the Whispers luncheon. Applications can be mailed or dropped off at 6 Pine Crescent, Whispering Pines, NC 28327. The deadline for submissions is April 9.
The speaker for the April Luncheon will be Amanda Ballard, Tribe Member and Storyteller of the Lumbee Tribe of the NC. She and other tribe members will join us to discuss the history, culture, art and traditions of the Lumbee Indians. The Lumbee were just recently granted federal recognition as a First Nation Tribe in December of 2025. They will also discuss what getting the federal recognition will mean to their tribe.
The lunch menu will be catered by Chipotle and will provide items to build your own burrito or burrito bowl. The ingredients include:
Chicken and Steak
White Rice
Black Beans
Cheese, Lettuce, Salsa, Sour Cream and Guacamole
Desserts
Tea and coffee
We hope you will join us for lunch starting at 11:30 AM. We will also be hosting a 50/50 drawing.
